#3 – Interview with Micro-Farmer, Brian Hazlett

On this episode, I bring a real-life micro farmer, Brian Hazlett, in to the studio.  Brian tells us about his land, soil, crops and livestock.  Listen as I pick his brain and use his knowledge and experiences to help me decide if this is what I want for me and my family.

I do have to admit that towards the end of this episode, I learn some information that makes me question if this is a realistic career goal for me.  But I also learn a lot from Brian in this hour that makes me want to grab a spade and break into the soil right now!  Speaking of soil, in the next episode, I will have on a soil expert to talk about the different types of soil in this area, what would be best to grow on and what I could do to improve soil conditions.

I’d like to hear from you, if you have advice, questions for me or questions for anyone I interview, e-mail me – patrick@patrickspath.com

Nice podcast. Informative and authentically entertaining as well. Over the past year or so I too have developed a strong interest in starting a small farm. My family has 10 acres of old farm land that is just sitting there with grass on it…so a small farm seems like a rewarding endeavor to me. I just can’t decide if I should get out of the military and do it full time or get things started slowly and finish up my military career and then dive into farming. It’s tricky. But anyway, I enjoyed the podcast. I hope you keep it going.
