988 versus NH Rapid Response

Both are starting points for crisis support. The useful distinction is nationwide access versus New Hampshire's local crisis-response pathway—not competing services.

In immediate danger, call 911. For crisis support, call or text 988.

988: a nationwide starting point

Call or text 988 for free, confidential crisis support, 24 hours a day. Online chat is also available. You can reach out for yourself or because you are worried about someone else.

When calling, press 1 for the Veterans Crisis Line or 2 for Spanish. Tell the counselor where support is needed when discussing local options; a phone number alone may not establish your current location.

NH Rapid Response: New Hampshire support

Call 833-710-6477 for New Hampshire crisis support. For text support, use 988; find current chat options at nh988.com. The service can discuss local care and mobile crisis response when appropriate; this is not a promise that a team will be sent.

Which should I choose?

  • Anywhere in the U.S.: 988 is a nationwide starting point for crisis support.
  • In New Hampshire: either number can start a conversation; NH Rapid Response provides a local crisis-support pathway.
  • Need someone on site: tell the crisis professional your location and ask about mobile crisis options. Suitability and availability vary.
  • Immediate danger or medical emergency: call 911 instead of waiting for a crisis team.

Helpfulness

No health information or case details. Opens a draft in your email app; nothing is saved here or sent until you send it. Not an emergency contact.

Patrick's Path is a behavioral-health crisis navigation network, not an emergency, medical or legal service. It cannot send help, arrange admission or determine court eligibility. Illustration shows a generated scene, not a client or provider.
